The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to finding solutions to the environmental challenges facing our province, our country and our planet. Due to our reliance on coal, natural gas and other fossil fuels, Saskatchewan has a relatively high green house gas emissions rate. For the sake of our children, this must change.

Through Go Green Saskatchewan, the provincial government is committed to helping homeowners, communities, schools, hospitals and businesses Go Green in their day-to-day lives.

The government will also do its part to Go Green and reduce its own environmental footprint. All new government vehicles will be hybrid or high fuel efficient. Every ministry will set measurable goals and targets to reduce their environmental footprint and report publicly on their progress.

Go Green Fund

The Go Green Fund is a financial commitment from the Government of Saskatchewan to assist Saskatchewan's people, communities, non-government organizations and businesses address the province's most important environmental issues.

Programs for Homeowners / Residential Users

The Government of Saskatchewan offers a number of programs to assist homeowners and residential users Go Green in their day-to-day lives. Rebates for low-flush toilets, a renewable power loan program and energy efficient rebates for homeowners to name a few.

Recycling

We in Saskatchewan are committed to a healthy environment and a sustainable economy. Along with that is a growing recognition that we need to get past the "throw away" mentality.

Go Green Hydraulic Launch Assist (HLA) Garbage Truck

The City of Regina and Ministry of Environment announced the purchase of an HLA garbage truck with the support of the Go Green Fund. While the HLA garbage truck has proven to be reliable in other cities, this project will be the first "extreme cold weather" testing of this technology.
