Go Green

The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to finding solutions to the environmental challenges facing our province, our country and our planet. Saskatchewan has the highest rate of growth in greenhouse gas emissions in Canada. For the sake of our children, this must change.

Through Go Green Saskatchewan, the provincial government is committed to helping homeowners, communities, schools, hospitals and businesses Go Green in their day-to-day lives.

The government will also do its part to Go Green and reduce its own environmental footprint. All new government vehicles will be hybrid or high fuel efficient. Every ministry will set measurable goals and targets to reduce their environmental footprint and report publicly on their progress.

		Go Green Fund The Go Green Fund is a financial commitment from the Government of Saskatchewan to assist Saskatchewan's people, communities, non-government organizations and businesses address the province's most important environmental issues.

		New Rebate Available for Low-Flush Toilets The Government of Saskatchewan is helping residents "Go Green" by offering a $50 rebate for low-flush toilets through the new Provincial Toilet Replacement Rebate Program.

		Province Provides 20 Percent Rebate to "Green" Vehicle Owners The provincial government is rewarding vehicle owners who ‘go green on the road' with a 20 per cent rebate from SGI on their 2007 insurance and registration fees for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles. The rebate is part of the Government's "Go Green" plan, designed to encourage Saskatchewan residents to be more environmentally friendly at home, at work and on the road.

		Recycling We in Saskatchewan are committed to a healthy environment and a sustainable economy. Along with that is a growing recognition that we need to get past the "throw away" mentality.

		Climate Change The single most significant environmental challenge facing the globe and citizens of the earth is the changes in our climate that are occurring as a result of greenhouse gas emissions.

		Energy Conservation Energy conservation is a key component of achieving emission reduction targets and is an area in which everyone in society can contribute.

		Environmental Innovation Environmental innovation is key to overcoming complex environmental problems such as loss of habitat and biodiversity, climate change and air and water pollution.

		Ecosystem Conservation The protection, conservation and restoration of air, land and water quality will enhance the quality of life of Saskatchewan's citizens for generations to come.

		Sustainable Development Sustainable development is a shared responsibility of everyone in society. Education, awareness and engagement are all key to ensuring a transition to a sustainable society.

		Go Green Marketing Materials The provincial government developed a series of print and radio ads to market the Go Green program.
