What is the Green Initiatives Fund?

The Ministry of Environment has temporarily suspended application intake for the Green Technology Commercialization Program while a program review is undertaken. The program review is expected to be completed by fall 2008. Please check website for program updates.

The Green Initiatives Fund provides financial support to Saskatchewan's people, communities and businesses to help them Go Green.

The objectives of the Green Initiatives Fund are to:

  • Promote environmentally sound decisions and actions;
  • Increase awareness of environmental impacts and solutions;
  • Commercialize new technologies that protect the natural environment while diversifying the economy; and
  • Support activities that balance the considerations of the environment, economy and society.

The Green Initiatives Fund has 2 programs:

Funding for non-government organizations, communities and Aboriginal organizations to promote sustainable development projects in the areas of climate change, water conservation and source water protection, green agricultural practices, ecosystem conservation, sustainable development awareness and eco-tourism.

Funding to help small and medium sized businesses overcome barriers to the commercialization of their green technologies.
